Nissan Forklift can now offer a new Diesel Particle Filter
system from factory for the DX ECO-X series, the choice has been made for the
Mann+Hummel SMF®-AR fully integrated
DPF system (inside the counterweight) that uses active regeneration without any
machine downtime, resulting in low maintenance and operating
costs.
FULLY
INTEGRATED DESIGN
Nissan Forklift has developed a diesel particle filter together
with Mann+Hummel that is fully integrated inside the counterweight of the
forklift truck. Thanks to the compact dimensions and the fact that the system
does not need external regeneration, it is possible to mount it inside the
contours of the truck. This is also the best solution when it comes to
aesthetics, that not many other suppliers can
offer.
HIGH GRADE
TECHNOLOGY
The system uses fully automatic active regeneration, this means the
driver does not have to activate the system and the truck can continue to work
while the system regenerates. The high performance filter element reduces the
amount of particles with at least 99%. Contrary to conventional ceramic filters,
the sintered metal filter also has a larger soot holding capacity which results
in larger maintenance intervals. Other advantages of the metal filter are its
long working life and it is cheap and easy to clean with high pressure water.
When we compare this to ceramic filters, these have a shorter working life and
much longer cleaning process. The ceramic cleaning process involves and
expensive furnace and can take up to 16 hours. It can be concluded that the
costs per operating hour of the DPF system that Nissan offers is one of the best
in the market.
REGENERATION
PROCESS
The regeneration process (burning off the diesel particles that are
trapped in the filter) takes place without machine downtime and without an
external power source.
The burning process is started by the heating elements. The burning
temperature is lowered thanks to the additive that is automatically injected in
the diesel fuel, which also helps a more consistent and quicker
regeneration.
This type of diesel particle filter is the best choice for use in
forklift trucks. It works independent from the exhaust gas temperature, which is
favorable because forklift trucks are most used in a stop-and-go working cycle
that results in a low exhaust gas temperature. Systems that rely on the exhaust
gas temperature will have a lower soot reduction as a result in forklift trucks,
this is not the case with the system that Nissan
offers.
DISPLAY ON
DASHBOARD
An extra dedicated display for monitoring the DPF system is
included on the dashboard of the Nissan DX ECO-X series. This display shows
amongst else when the filter needs to be cleaned or when the additive tank needs
to be refilled. When the operator starts the truck, the DPF system will perform
a self check to make sure it is in working order.
ADOPTION ON OTHER NISSAN
MODELS
Nissan Forklift is currently investigating the possibility of
adopting this system also on the diesel version of the GX series.
